Earlier this year I moaned about the closure of the down escalator at Bounds Green Tube and how irritating it was to have to walk down the fixed staircase

So ... credit where it's due and congratulations to the TfL engineering team who have this week re-opened the escalator - apparently a couple of weeks ahead of schedule!

Its great to see both escalators finally back in service again!

I agree with all thinking ginger cats!  In fact I feel the revived escalator warrants a street party - who's with me?

Seriously, it's great it's back in action - the idea that you should catch a bus to Wood Green if you were unable to use the stairs was an unsatisfactory and costly alternative.  But time to stop whingeing now..

My left knee is most relieved.

My left knee (which I am now quite certain is suffering early-onset arthritis), already twinging with the damp weather, is about to suffer a renewed onslaught of downstairs walking. My recollection is that *both* escalators were taken out of service back in 2010/11 (am I right?). Now we're told that one is to be out of action again for sixth months.

WAT?
