Hi,

A number of residents have mentioned to us how dangerous the pedestrian crossing at Bounds Green Station is (both the crossing that goes across Brownlow Road and the one that goes across Bounds Green Road). We have noticed that cars drive through at some speed even when there is a green man and with so many families using the junction this is a real issue.

We have taken Council Officers down to see the problem at rush hour and they have contacted TFL to see if we can work together to resolve this (TfL are responsible for the sequencing of the traffic lights).

As ward councillors we have also written to Joanne McCartney, who is our GLA member asking her to put some pressure on TfL to review the junction. I have attached our letter and will post the response as soon as we get it.

Do get in touch if you want to ask any questions or raise any points that we may have missed.

Excellent news. It is an absolute nightmare.

It has always been like that. Mainly bad driving.  There is a CCTV camera up there. Council owned I think. Perhaps a comment to the might be in order. A few prosecution might help, or even a police person now and again.

Thank you for taking this up. This junction has been a problem for a while. I complained back in 2011 about this junction after being nearly knocked down collecting my twins from nursery by a car illegally turning left from Bounds Green Road into Brownlow Road.

Councillor Ali Demirci kindly brought it up with the Haringey traffic dept. Who eventually moved the small no left turn sign for greater visibility - seems it had originally been incorrectly placed. Though greater concern within the council seemed to be the loss of income from the camera that caught people doing illegal left turns. Back then it was generating 2,138 penalty charge notices in 3 months.

Just an update on the junction. For the hundreds of us who use the junction every day some good news!

The Council is consulting on building out the junction at the tube to make it even harder for drivers to ignore the no left turn from Bounds Green Road to Brownlow. They are also proposing painting some additional signage on the road.

If you have thoughts do feel free to respond to the consultation by sending comments to frontline.consultation@haringey.gov.uk  there are more details in the attached documents and local residents and businesses will have received the information in the post.

Good news - sounds positive. Another issue is Durnsford  Road which needs a speed camera It is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured/killed. The  maniacs speeding along this road is alarming
