Planning for this year's Bowes Park Festival on July 13th is well under way and we have some great activities, music and refreshments lined up! If you can spare an hour on the day to help on one of the stalls or stands, we'd love to hear from you. It's a fun event to volunteer at, so please get in touch with Nicki - nickidp@hotmail.com / 07787 939590.

A bit more detail on the jobs for which volunteers are needed has arrived from Kate Franzmann of the Friends of Finsbury Gardens:

Bowes Park Festival 13th July 3.0 – 8.0 -otherwise known as Fins Feste 2013

Another festival looms after a gap year and we are looking for lots of volunteers to help us.

10.30 Volunteers to meet in Gardens for set up of event.

12.00 onwards plants, books, cakes can be dropped off

14.00 All volunteers to meet in the gardens

15.00 Start.

15.10 – 16.10 Drumming workshop

16.20 – 16.40 Community Choir

16.50 – 17.50 Bollywood Dance

18.00 – 18.45 Band (set 1)

19.00 – 1945 Band (set 2)

Jobs needing covering

  • Large Car and Driver to transport bits and pieces locally
  • Fearless people who like going up tall ladders to put up Bunting and Electric Cables
  • People to help with stalls – even if it is only for 20 minutes whilst Communiy Choir sings – some are stallholders!
  • Help clearing up at the end. Moving rubbish, taking tables to Myddleton Road (in car) . Helping to carrying things that are stored in peoples homes.
  • Organisers of small but excitable children who need to be given controlled access to the Bouncy Castle in regulated groups for their own safety. This is quite a demanding task so if we could have lots of volunteers for this then the time ‘on task’ would be short.

As well as volunteering on the day - you can help out with donations things to sell:

  • Books for the bookstall – which can either be brought on the day anytime after 11.0 am or left in the woodstore at the side of 85 Nightingale Road. You would have to ensure they are waterproof as the store isn’t.
  • Plants. Please bring us your cuttings and extras. It has been a wild growing season so there should be lots needing new homes.
  • Cakes, Chutney, Jams, Marmalades, Lemon Curd. We need lots and lots.

If you can help with any of the above please contact sarah.sanders@thegingercat.com

Thanks

Kate Franzmann

Hi Kate

My name is Helen Price and I am the manager of the Volunteer Centre in Enfield. We have a few thousand local residents registered with us as being interested in getting involved with our local community, some of whom undoubtedly live in the Bowes Park area. Would you like me to promote your volunteering requirements to them?

Helen

Yes, please!  Thanks you very much

Hi Kate, Nicki, Sarah

We sent an email out to over 1800 local peple who are interested in volunteering at local events. We cpied Sarah into the email.

Hopefully you will get a healthy response. If you do get responses as a result of our promotion then it'd be useful to know (if you get time).

Hope your event goes well.

Kind Regards

Helen

Happy to help!
