A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
Hi all,
I am thinking of starting a cake club locally, but before I start looking for a venue etc I just wanted to know if anyone would be interested in attending.
Basically it's like a book club, the only difference is that you bake a cake to bring along, then share and eat cake, while sharing tips with fellow bakers. It's a fantastic way to meet new people with a common interest.
I think it would be great for the community, plus others afar!
Let me know your thoughts.

Count me in, it sounds like a great idea. It would be nice to have an excuse to do more baking.

Hi Kay,
I think this is a great idea. Please count me in!

How exciting! I'm glad that I have a few people interested. Right so now I will look locally to find a venue. The idea is that it's all free. I will enquire with a few places and get back to you all.
I am thinking of holding the club on a Sunday afternoon or Monday evening. I hope this suits most people and it will probably be every 6 weeks (we need to think about our waistlines!)
I will keep you updated.
Kay
I am wife of B& B member. I am v. interested, but would prefer Monday evenings. Would you and other potential members consider holding the get-together in each other's homes in turn? This works well with a Gardening Club of which I am a member, and saves the need to pay to hire a venue. @Your turn to host' doesn't come round too frequently depending on number of willing members. Hi,
Holding the event at each other's houses is an option, however this would mean that we may need to charge people to attend due to refreshments etc. Basically the idea is to use a venue for free which is why I am looking for a place in the community as people would then buy refreshments from them and it's good advertising.
Personally my home doesn't hold many people so this is not ideal for me.
I am getting closer to a venue and should be able to give details soon. However to make the cake club more exciting the venue is revealed very close to the event.
Which days suit everyone else, Sunday afternoon's or Monday evening say 7.30 - 9.30pm. If it's after 7pm it gives people time to get home from work and make their way to the venue.
Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks Kay
Shelly, I think about cake regularly too ;)
Well there will be a theme each time and we all bake a cake based on our interpretation of the theme. I hope this answers your question.

Hi Kay,
I've just seen your cake club suggestion – great idea and I'd love to sign up!
Mon evenings should be fine for me. Look forward to hearing more!

Hi Kay
I'd really like to join too, what a great idea! I love baking and eating cake, although I'm supposed to being doing less of the latter so every few weeks probably best for the waistline as you said! Mon eves should be fine too.
Look forward to hearing more details.

What about Ruth Winston Center the Chinese center at Bounds Green.
Hi all,
I've confirmed a venue which will be revealed closer to the time. I know most of you were up for a Monday night, but unfortunately I couldn't get a venue for this day. The venue in mind is closed on Mondays.
So if you're still interested details are as follows:
Sunday 20th May 3-5pm
The cake club is part of a national one under Clandestine Cake Club, but I will be running the Bounds Green & Bowes Park one. It's the 100th one which is exciting!
Anyway please follow this link http://clandestinecakeclub.co.uk/2012/04/25/bounds-green-and-bowes-...
Then email me at kayteascakes@gmail.com to book a place. Places are limited so email me quickly.
It's very local to us all too which is handy!
See you all soon,
Kx
Hi all,
If you're still interested do remember to email as per the details above.
