Thank to our neighbours at the Harringay Online website for alerting us to this initiative from From WRVS:

This summer WRVS will celebrate older people by publishing a list of the 66 most influential and successful people aged over 66.

The list will recognise these individuals for the extraordinary achievements and contributions that they continue to make. It will include people in the public eye across a range of areas including science, business, the arts and show business.

One of the most important categories will recognise local unsung heroes who are making communities across the UK a great place to grow old. It's our way of saying thank you for the hard work they contribute every day – and we want your nominations!

They could be a WRVS volunteer who is involved in many other local activities that really make a difference, or someone you know who makes a big impact to their local area, perhaps they have organised initiatives that have improved your community, or play a leading role in the local organisations that make a real difference to where you live.

A panel of experts will then come together in the summer and judge your nominations, alongside those in the public eye, to create our final list of the 66 most influential people over the age of 66.

So if there's a local unsung hero let WRVS know by using the online form to identify who they are and why you want to recognise them. What better way to say thank you!
