Charringtons Mechanised Coal Depot at Palace Gates, Wood Green 1958 - 1984

Charringtons%20Depot%201958.doc

Archived here for reference and posterity, a short article from Trains Illustrated September 1958 Vol XI No. 120 detailing the (then) state of the art coal distribution depot and associated rail links originally sited close to what is now the High Speed Train Depot at Bounds Green.

Rail access from the East Midlands mines was from the Hertford Loop with over 1100 tons of coal delivered each week. It only closed 32 years ago so any memories of it would be most welcome.

And, I'm sorry but who are you calling an Anorak....?
