A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
Cityread is a new initiative encouraging Londoners to read more, and to discuss books with each other - a capital-wide reading group! The project is also encouraging people to get into libraries (whilst they are still there!).
To mark the Bicentennary of Charles Dickens Cityread has chosen Oliver Twist as its first book The aim is to bring Londoners together around a single book for a series of special events; each of London's 33 boroughs will be hosting events and activities throughout April themed around Oliver Twist.
Enfield Libraries and the Dugdale centre have arranged two archive screenings of filmed versions of Oliver Twist. The 1922 version with Lon Chaney on April 16th and the Classic David Lean 1948 production with Alec Guinness on April 18th.
Haringey libraries are holding a series of associated events including talks, lectures and kids' craft activities.
You can check all the Cityread London Events happening in Enfield and Haringey or across the whole of London on the project website.
