Sad news from Cathy Herman:

I am sorry to tell you that we have not been successful in getting lottery money to keep 128 Myddleton Road going after June. It has been a great year at 128. There have been sessions for Mums and Babies, Older People, Health activities, Give and Takes, parties and social events and it has been a really good meeting place! But, change is part of community activity and we do not want to get bogged down in chasing little pots of money that will exhaust our volunteering time and spirit.

The Bowes Park Community Association  will focus on new ideas and supporting the current initiatives which need more volunteers such as the garden groups.

We also need some storage space for BPCA archive and reference material. If anyone has a spare corner could they contact us please- caroline@qurna.org

There is a very exciting development on the horizon and it could be a place where some of 128’s activities could be picked up. If you have read the discussion on this website about a local cafe, you may have read Nell’s contribution about the community focused cafe, bar and gallery that Nell and Mat are intending to open in Myddleton Road later this year-they are currently searching for premises.

Any ideas or support to Nell and Mat at bowesparkmat@hotmail.co.uk

Another exciting development that you may also have read about on the Bowes and Bounds website is the message by Kate Franzmann that we are exploring the idea of Community Arts Centre at the building with the board outside it overlooking Finsbury Gardens.

Anyone with any ideas or expertise please contact Kate at katefranzmann@tiscali.org.uk

Thank you to everyone who has made 128 such a success. I would particularly like to thank our friends at the Red Sea Supermarket who have been instrumental to the smooth running of the place. They have looked after the key and access to 128 for us and it has been really successful. It has shown what a cooperative and supportive community we live in!

Do come along on Saturday June 25th from 2 to 5pm to have a goodbye party at 128. Bring a dish/drink and come to celebrate our year. It will be a drop in event-nothing formal- and a chance to think of our next initiative- pop up arts in Myddleton anyone?

This is very sad news for everyone in Bowes Park.  128 was a great success and got many many people involved in the community and provided a focus and for the many activities in the area.

Let's hope a replacement can be found soon.

Well done to everyone who organised it - Cathy, Caroline etc.

Regards to everyone from Colombia

Lionel
