The Meteorological Office has issued a cold weather warning for this week.

Looks like there is a strong possibility of cold weather and wintry showers across the UK.

If it does snow the Government Snow Code advises that householders can clear snow snow and ice from pavements outside their homes.

There are detailed and localised versions of the Snow Code on our local authority sites which will provide updates of council services and sources of information including information on road gritting:

Do keep a look out for your vulnerable neighbours if the weather turns bad - perhaps offer to get a pint of milk and a loaf of bread for those unable to get out themselves.

With the first snow of 2013 arriving this morning - and cold weather set to remain this week - it is worth revisiting this advice.

If you are out and about about in the neighbourhood - please do submit your snowy snaps for our photo gallery
