A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
The Community Friendship Zone will be an area by the Palmers Greenery, near the tennis courts, where people can come and sit, obtain information and advice from a number of charitable stalls, meet new people, watch a demonstration for a variety of classes held in the local area and find out about Volunteering opportunities. In addition to vulnerable elderly people living alone there are also many who are caring for relatives, including those with dementia , which make it difficult to get involved in the community and may also reduce confidence in joining groups that exist in the London Borough of Enfield.
The Festival is partnering with local organisations like the Ruth Winston Centre, Silver Fit, Age Uk Enfield, The University of the Third Age, to name a few, who will be part of the Community Friendship Zone .
There will be refreshment available from the nearby Greenery café in Broomfield Park and visitors will be able to try out activities such as Tai Chi, Yoga etc.
After the Festival day we will continue to work with these organisations and others to get more older people engaged in our community.
