Congratulations to Tottenhall Infants School: Rated Good by OFSTED

Congratulations to the Head Teacher, staff, governors and pupils at Tottenhall Infants school - who have been judged as "Good" in their recent OFSTED inspection.

Tottenhall is unusual in our area as a stand-alone infants school - other schools are all-through primaries with both Infants and Juniors taught on the same site.

In their report on Tottenhall Infants inspectors were positive about the ethos of the school:

Pupils thrive in a caring and stimulating environment and are known as individuals by all staff. This contributes extremely well to the school’s ‘family feel’, something that is greatly valued by parents.

One area that came in for particular praise was the school's Nurture Group - working with the most vulnerable pupils. Teaching and Leadership in the Nurture group was judged to be outstanding; the inspectors said:

Pupils in the nurture group behave extremely well because of the calm environment and the interesting and enjoyable learning activities. The adults are highly skilled at helping these pupils to acquire the strategies they need to manage their own feelings and behaviour. Pupils from the nurture group successfully transfer back into mainstream classes and are prepared well for moving on with their education.
