Over the past couple of weekends there have been people coming to our door and offering to clean the gutters for £50. They've used pushy sales techniques to try to get us to agree to have the gutters cleaned on the spot.

I have no specific reason to suggest that these particular individuals are not legitimate. However, it is very common for people to be conned by door-to-door tradesmen offering these kind of services (for example, they "discover" damage to your roof that urgently needs fixing).

Legitimate, reputable guttering and roofing companies normally don't need to sell their services door-to-door. So just a general word of advice to be cautious, and also to please keep an eye out for elderly or vulnerable neighbours who may be targeted.
