In recent years BPCA Give or Take Days have been encouraging local people to re-use and pass-on unwanted items rather than send them to landfill - or create waste which is  encouraging development of large scale processing plant like that proposed for Pinkham Way. Our resources section on this site lists suggestions for reducing waste and recycling

So we are delighted to share information about the new development of the Enfield Freecycle project which is now live on Facebook.

Here is their Press release:

The Enfield Freecycle® Group has recently opened a community page at www.facebook.com/enfieldfreecycle. The moderators will use this site as a notice board to keep members informed of updates or changes related to the Enfield Freecycle Group and we hope this will become a valuable resource for news and guidance on recycling and that visitors to the site will impart their knowledge, swap tips and post details of events they are involved in that might be of interest to other recyclers in the Enfield area and beyond.

Offers and requests for items will not be allowed on Facebook but will continue to be posted at www.freecycle.org. Our aim is to keep stuff out of landfill – one mans junk is another mans treasure. Our list enables people to offer things they no longer need for free to other members. Occasionally members may also post a wanted ad to try to obtain a specific item. No money, no fuss, just good will and a sense of community.

Enfield Freecycle makes a difference every day, not just to those who gift or receive the items but to our local community and the global environment. We need your help, tell your neighbours, colleagues, friends and family about this wonderful resource and help us boost membership further. There are groups across London, throughout the UK and in many other countries worldwide. Go to www.freecycle.org for more info. Recycling is good, Freecycling is better!
