Engineering work on the Piccadilly line weekend of 29/30 March

What is happening?

We are undertaking a comprehensive improvement programme across London’s transport network, including the modernisation of the Tube. As part of this and to provide a more reliable, smoother and more comfortable ride, we are carrying out track replacement at Turnham Green and points replacement work at Acton Town this weekend.

This means there is no Piccadilly line service all weekend between Hammersmith and Ealing Common. There will additionally be no District line service between West Kensington and Acton Town/Richmond (Saturday) and West Kensington and Ealing Broadway/Richmond (Sunday)

What travel options are available?

To get to Heathrow Airport on SATURDAY

• Use the Central line to Ealing Broadway and change for the District line

• Take the District line two stops to Acton Town

• Continue by Piccadilly line to the airport.

London Underground tickets / passes valid to Heathrow or Zone 6 are accepted

To get to Heathrow Airport on SUNDAY

• Use the Central line to Ealing Broadway and change for replacement bus

• Buses connect Ealing Broadway to the Piccadilly line at Northfields

• Continue by Piccadilly line to the airport.

London Underground tickets / passes valid to Heathrow or Zone 6 are accepted.

Using Heathrow Express/Connect

Heathrow Express services run between Paddington the airport and Heathrow Connect services run between Paddington/Ealing Broadway and the airport. London Underground tickets and Oyster cards are not accepted on these routes. You will need to purchase a special ticket if you wish to use either of these routes. This can be done via their website or stations, or at an Underground station before starting your journey. For more details visit: https://www.heathrowexpress.com/ or https://www.heathrowconnect.com

Replacement buses

For the fastest journey to Heathrow on either day, travel via Ealing Broadway using one of the routes listed above. Replacement buses for local journeys to stations in the closure area will operate to/from Hammersmith. Valid Underground tickets will also be accepted on national Rail services between Waterloo and Richmond.
