A message from the Friends of Finsbury Gardens:

Hurrah! Open again.

We are all delighted that Finsbury Gardens is open again.

The Friends of Finsbury Gardens are very sorry that it has been closed for so long, but first the bad weather made work difficult, and then some new quiet fencing was not delivered on time.

Thank you to the workers who have been here working come rain or come shine.
Thank you to Gill and Alex from Wynne Williams Associates Ltd for design and management.
Thank you to Tim Baker and Haringey Parks for all their help.
Thank you to the members of the Friends who made the application for funding way back in January 2011 and have spent hundreds of hours on the necessary paperwork and meetings.
Thank you to Community Spaces - The Big Lottery for its grant.

And Thank You to the local public for being patient while it was closed.

Work still to be done...

  • The fencing will stay up until the newly sown grass can manage on its own.
  • In about two months an area of the asphalt near the ball funnel will be painted green – the new asphalt has to settle for a while.
  • The new flower beds will be planted up – please do volunteer your help.

Volunteers are needed for:

  • planting the new beds
  • gardening every second Sunday of the month
  • a rota for locking the gardens at night and unlocking the gardens in the morning

Enjoy the Gardens and please help to keep them clean and tidy.
