Funding available for community organisations celebrating 2012Olympics in Haringey

Haringey Council is inviting Haringey based voluntary and community sector organisations to apply for grants of between £500 to £2,000.

The 2012 Local Opportunities Fund aims to support projects which involve Haringey’s communities in the borough’s celebration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

All applications must respond to and also address at least one of the Olympic and Paralympic Values: respect, excellence, friendship, courage, determination, inspiration and equality.
Types of events we are looking to fund could include:

  • street parties and other community celebrations
  • sporting and physical activity programmes such as walking, cycling and exercise to music
  • cultural events and activities eg community art, performance: dance, music or film events

Application criteria:

The project must be delivered in Haringey
The fund will only support new projects or help build on existing ones
Haringey residents must be included in the conception, development and delivery of the project
The project must clearly respond to the Olympic/Paralympic Values
The project must be delivered between 1 July and 30 September 2012
The applicant must be able to demonstrate that they have the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to deliver the project safely, on time and within budget

To celebrate the Paralympics applications are particularly welcomed from groups and organisations working with residents with disabilities.
