Last week whilst looking around at the fantastic  "AP And Beyond open house art trail" I came across the Guerrilla Gardeners’ Pimp Your Pavement project in Alexandra Park Road, which has turned  a drab section of a busy road into a delightful little oasis.

A group local gardeners who exhibit in the National Garden scheme have developed this space by the simple addition of a bench, half a dozen galvanised dustbins and a few well chosen plants. For probably no more than a couple of hundred pounds the wide pavement is transformed into a space where neighbours can sit for a chat, passers by can stop for a rest - and it shows others that the area is cared for and loved by people who live there.

This "Pimp your Pavement" scheme was awarded with a Conservation Foundation Green Corner award recently (another award was won by Bowes School reported elsewhere on the site)

Whilst our area has some lovely open spaces in Myddleton Road Community Gardens and Finsbury Gardens - there may be a few corners that could be transformed with a bit of TLC - particularly in the areas without open space nearby in the West of Bowes Ward. Perhaps a small grant from the Residents Priority Fund might support a project like this?
