Today is the 50th anniversary of the London Boroughs and the creation of Greater London. 

A contact at Enfield told me "we have lots of stuff in the pipeline including 1960s themed events, a photo archive, photography competition, guided walks and a festival" and they've just published details and unveiled a plaque. 

Haringey doesn't appear to have anything up its sleeve just yet.

Do not forget that Metropolitan County Councils were also abolished and the Greater London Council was established in 1965 until it was abolished (dissolved) by a Conservative Administration on 31st March 1986 And an intervening 13 bleak years until the Greater London Authority was established under the Greater London Authority Act 1999
