Hello Bowes and Bounds residents!

I come in the good name of the Haringey Timebank- we are working in the borough to connect residents and neighbours to share their skills and time with one another. You can see a bit about what we do on our website at www.haringeytimebank.org.uk as well as what some of our members are requesting/offering.

Lots happening now- crafty upcycling activities, knitting/crochet, an art exhibition (https://www.facebook.com/events/393452353999290/), member lunches and outings, etc.

It would be great to introduce timebanking to your area! It's free to join and all taking part costs is your time. Every hour you spend helping another member earns one time credit which you can spend on anything else in the timebank.

Any questions, give me a shout!

Hi Simone - your question about location of members - set me thinking, so  I looked at the sign-up info that people supplied when they joined and it's a pretty even split between BP and BG members - plus a few from New Southgate, Palmers Green and Wood Green etc...

Maybe its just that the Bowes Park end is more vocal?  You could invite your neighbours to join!

Hi Simone,

Are you by any chance part of a resident's association in your area? We are looking to get several involved to show what timebanking can do for RA's and local areas. Do you have a central hub there where we could do a small event, as you say possibly a BBQ or a bring and fix event (similar to a bring and take but you actually share skills 'fixing' items or helping people iron our problems)? Perhaps you could start by putting a general callout on here in a new discussion to see what local residents might like to do?

Happy to support where we can.

Vickie

Hi Simone, would you mind emailing or phoning me please to discuss what we can possibly offer your area? vickie.schellert@groundwork.org.uk, 07726580123. I'll be away from 3-11 April so would be great to chat before if possible.

Thanks for posting this on the site - I think it would be great to get some local folk involved in Timebank and the skill sharing it supports.

Hi Vickie

Welcome!  It all sounds very promising - if you do manage to make it along to the Sustainable Bowes Park social at The Step on Tuesday 27th (7.30-9.30pm), it would be good to talk about how people might offer DIY skills to help others with draughtproofing.  No previous experience necessary, just a pair of hands to hold a draughtproofing strip steady!

All the best,

Mary Blake

Absolutely Mary- that's just the thing we'd love to encourage. I've got it in my diary to come along.

Best

Vickie
