We have had discussions on this forum about the proliferation of Betting Shops in the area. Each of these has to be licensed by the local authority - Currently Enfield Council is conducting a public consultation about its policy towards gambling

There are two issues. The Council has a statutory duty to publish its gambling policy every three years (Gambling Act 2005) The existing policy approved in 2010 is now up for proposed re-adoption in January 2013.

Secondly the Council may, every three years, resolve not to issue casino premises licences The ‘no casino’ resolution was last made by Council on 27 January 2010 and there is a proposal to repeat the ‘no casino’ resolution in January 2013.

More details about the two proposals and the existing gambling policy are available on Enfield Council’s website

If you would like to respond to this consultation, you may do so on the Council’s website at http://www.enfield.gov.uk/survey/gambling.htm

The deadline for responses is 28 November 2012
you may address any queries to licensing@enfield.gov.uk
