A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
Does anyone else suffer this problem? I live in Woodside Ward the other side of the High Road but we have similar speed humps to those in Bowes Park. Whilst I am wholly in favour of speed restrictors like these, it is our experience that larger vehicles (eg skip lorries) can and do drive with impunity at a greater speed than the permitted 20mph. This results in a bone shaking thump felt right through the fabric of our 1902 terrace home. Since this is a residential road this is fortunately an intermittent occurrence but when it happens, it usually occurs between 7 and 8 in the morning and and is severe enough to rattle the sash windows in the back bedroom! I have written a string of emails about this to George Meehan asking for something to be done, like SLOW or 5MPH painted a few feet on the road before each crossover. He has agreed with me that speed is the problem but so far has not actioned anything about it (in two years).
I would be interested to know if there is anyone else suffering a similar disquiet about the damage their property might be sustaining.
