If you weren't around anymore ... would your neighbours notice?

Nobody noticed when Joyce Vincent died in her bedsit above Wood Green Shopping City in December 2003. Her body wasn't discovered until three years later, when she was found surrounded by Christmas presents she had been wrapping, and with the TV still on. Newspaper reports offered few details of her life - not even a photograph.

Its startling to think that this could happen just along the road from our area - how could someone dissapear unnoticed in the capital city?

Would you be missed ... or would you miss a neighbour if they just disappeared?

The story of Joyce Vincent is the subject of a new film - with a preview this week in Wood Green adjacent to the site of the tradgedy. It's a film about urban lives and  how we frequently know very little about our neighbours.

More information about the film at www.dreamsofalife.com the clip below features journalists who reported on the case reflecting on the story.

So sorry to have missed this special screening - but glad to see more screenings start from 16 December.  I wish I knew more of my neighbours.

Oh, hang on - it's on 14 December at Cineworld WG! I will get my ticket now. Also writing about this for Londonist.com.

Sorry! I put it up with the wrong date, now fixed... I'd be keen to hear about the Q&A

Got tickets for Weds! Heard about this on BBC London the other day. Sounds like a really moving story.
