Myddleton Road appears to be inundated with letting agents, many of which do not have any properties in their windows! I know the road is in dire need of regeneration, but I was hoping for a deli, butcher, baker or even, dare I say it, a decent local supermarket (Waitrose local) etc. Other than possibly cheap rent, does anyone have any idea why there are so many!

I don't know how there can be so many and all survive, but at least there's a new Polish deli and a Greek food shop opening soon, by the looks of things. And Bowes Park Deli possibly on its way.

Thanks for thinking of us! (I work there)  But, we need super busy high streets for our shops to work.  The problem for Myddleton Road is that the catchment for buying good or services of any kind is so limited which is a challenge, though not insurmountable, for any business opening up.

The reality is that those lettings agents are owned by rich "business men" who live in mansions in the home counties and are happy to see Myddleton Road bled dry because they have no stake in OUR area whatsoever. We all know who they are and they all laugh in our faces. Until people are encouraged to invest in Myddleton Road with a serious belief in improving Bowes Park commercially then the street will remain be a dead duck with untapped potential and that is to the detriment to the quality of all our lives.

Just out of interest, I counted nine the other day. Today I will count the builder's merchants!

I noticed that a picture of the old clothing shop was in the newspaper the other day! Look forward to the new deli's opening:) I would love to do more shopping on the street but as I don't need a place to rent my choices are currently a bit limited - I am also still in mourning for Cottage which was an excellent take-a-way!

Yes the Mail and The Sun both ran news stories about George Moores Menswear - Read more here. Although neither credited the original source of the "quotes" they used - they were taken, without credit,  from the from the My Bowes Park project conducted by Sound Delivery a couple of years ago.

The audio interviews with local residents are compelling and definitely worth a listen.

Shameful behaviour but then what more do we expect from the Daily Fail and the Non-Sunance!!
