I have used Rentokil very effectively at my workplace, I know they are not local but the guy we had genuinely seemed to love being a mouse catcher! They have humane treatments, and I can highly recommend them.

Might not be the sort of thing that works for everyone, but I've long used those ultrasonic plugs to good effect, and if you have gerbils, hamsters or other pets, they are safe for them.  Currently using one plug that protects the whole house very well indeed.  I can't bear the thought of poisons or bait, even if they are pests...

I know this is probably (hopefully!) sorted, but thought would add a recommendation for anyone else looking for someone. We've just used Judd pest control, who are based in muswell hill. They came out the next day, really friendly, extremely efficient (blocked up the holes around outside pipes), and were fairly priced. http://www.juddpestcontrol.co.uk

They are also v well reviewed on Which? Local as well.
