Re-Naming Neighbourhoods

A fun article on the always sparkling Londonist Blog draws attention to the way areas of London are occasionally re-branded by developers, local authorities - or as a way of identifying the latest fashionable neighbourhood.

"Bowes and Bounds" gets a mention as an alternative to Wood Green, a bit of fun ... but as  pointed out by @Darren_Beach on Twitter, "Wood Green" is exactly the sort of name a developer would create to market a new neighbourhood if it didn't already exist!

With all the fuss about the North Circular Area Action Plan we should consider ourselves lucky it's not the subject of a Local Authority led rebranding exercise. How would you like to live in "NorCircVille" or something equally hideous?
