Loophole: get two-for-one cinema tickets all year - by spending just £2

For as little as £2 you can get a free cinema ticket each week for a year, thanks a comparison site offer. Here's how to do it

Film buffs can pay as little as £2 to receive two-for-one cinema tickets for the next year by taking out one day travel insurance.

Insurance website Comparethemarket last month launched “Meerkat Movies”, offering its five million customers access to two-for-one cinema tickets every Tuesday or Wednesday for a year.

This replaced the popular Orange Wednesdays after EE ended its 12-year promotion that provided free cinema tickets to its mobile phone customers.

To qualify you have to make a purchase through Comparethemarket, such as a home, car or life insurance policy.

But to take advantage of the offer film buffs do not have to shell out hundreds of pounds a year, as you might on car insurance

You could home in on the cheapest available policy, purely to benefit from the film deal.

MoneySavingExpert.com, the money saving website founded by Martin Lewis, worked out that consumers can qualify for as little as £2 thanks to the wording in the terms and conditions.

That's because the small print of the offer states travel insurance also qualifies, but does not specify a minimum cover period.

One-day cover for a holiday in Britain, for instance, costs as little as £2. This policy, like any other, qualifies the buyer for the two-for-one cinema tickets for the next 12 months
