Moorgate Network Rail evacuated because of blaze at platform level

Moorgate station closed as firefighters tackle blaze on Tube platform

Moorgate station was today evacuated after a fire broke out on one of the platforms.

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters were called to the station, which was closed, at 10.49am. No trains stopped at the station.

A spokesman for Transport for London said the fire is on one of the platforms belonging to Network Rail........

The station was closed from 11am until it reopened at just after 11.30am this morning. Great Northern rail diverted all their services to Kings Cross.{National Rail advice is that disruption is expected to last until 15:00. In the meantime trains are expected to be started back from Finsbury Park)

It is the second time there have been problems at the station today. This morning TfL said no trains were stopping at the station as the escalators were broken.
