A new project with local young people between 13-18 will be creating an audio snapshot of our area.

Taking place in early 2011 the My Bowes Park Project will work with young people helping them  learn the skills of interviewing and audio editing to make podcasts and audio features of our local community.

This exciting project will be led by sounddelivery the award-winning digital media, training and production company.

We're still looking for young people to get involved with this project. It's set to be a fantastic few days where you'll gain some amazing skills!

It will involve young people from the area being taught interviewing, audio recording and editing skills. They will then interview elderly people from the local area to create an audio snapshot of what it is like to live in the area. We'd be looking for a commitment of 5 days from the young people - this would be from initial training to developing the final audio pieces.

After the project has finished, the young people and their families would be invited to an unveiling of their work at 128 Myddleton Road. The audio will then be used on the Bowes Park Community Association website.

This project would give young people in the area a fantastic opportunity to get involved in a project where they will learn new and exciting skills, and help build a lasting legacy for the area. It also shows how smaller organisations such as 128 Myddleton Road are doing their part to offer exciting projects to the local youth.

If you, your children, friends or any groups you're involved with may be interested in working with us on the project, then please get in touch!

This training training has now started, but there are still plenty of places for young people to get involved.

The project is taking place over half term and is a fantastic way for young people to gain new and exciting skills during their break from school.

If you know someone who would be interested in getting involved, please have them contact me right away to make sure they can get a place - I can be emailed (eric@sounddelivery.org.uk) or better yet, get me on the phone: 075 1744 1607.

It's a fun few days where you can learn skills that you're unlikely to get anywhere else. Not only that, but you get to speak to some fascinating people and learn things you never knew about the area you live in.
