A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
The Hidden River Discovery Trail is an activity for families and small groups, including adults and children from age 7 upwards, set in North East London. The trail was conceived as part of the Hidden River Festival September 2013, celebrating 400 years of the New River, a man-made conduit which slopes gradually from Hertfordshire to London and still supplies drinking water to the capital, even today! It includes a map and clue trail, numerous fascinating facts and insights about the New River, and a wildlife spotting game called 'Wingo'!.
The clues in the puzzle, the facts, and the Wingo game all encourage participants to look around them as they explore the stretch of New River Pathway from Finsbury Park to Clissold Park. There are prizes to be won until the deadline of 31st January 2014. There is a prize for a family, and another for a school, anywhere in the UK.
