The news about the opening of the Myddleton Road Outdoor Gym and Table Tennis area genrated a bit of banter on Twitter (see below) about local sporting competitions...

It set me thinking,  after a "summer like no other" in London during 2012 we could all do with a return of the warm feelgood factor. So if we held our own neighbourhood Olympics what are the local sporting challenges we could attempt?

On Twitter The Step suggested a Triathlon: Run (jog) to Ally Pally & back, swim the New River & 5km on the new outdoor gym bike!

How about about a modern pentathlon journey to work: getting to the station on time, buying a coffee, finding a newspaper, getting a seat on the rain, and no delays?

What about weightlifting - bringing home the shopping from Morrisons when there's not a 329 in sight?

Any other neighbourhood versions of Olympic Sports? Add your ideas to the comments below.

Fab idea.

Swim the New River? Paddle it, more like. Or canoe?

The pool table in the Prince has been re-covered if we can include a pub sports section.

And isn't there a basketball net in Finsbury Gardens?

Wonder if we could map a marathon route for our local runners covering every street in Bowes & Bounds.
