New Appointment - Age UK Enfield and The Parker Day Care Centre

Age UK Enfield are delighted to announce the temporary appointment of Gill Otter, Interim Head of Dementia Services based at The Parker Day Care Centre, Edmonton

Gill has over 30 years proven experience of working with Older People and Carers, developing flag ship day services within the heart of East London. A vibrant and energetic person, Gill is a ‘hands on’ team manager who helps motivate and develop creative, professional proactive employees, ensuring the high standards of day care services for people diagnosed with Dementia are upheld.

With exciting plans to develop a partnership with The Memory Clinic at Chase Farm Hospital; developing post diagnostic services and Cognitive Stimulation Therapy Groups led by trained employees at The Parker Centre,  Gill is also facilitating new opportunities for clients to participate in grant funded gardening therapy groups and music projects.  New plans to expand current services are also being reviewed, especially at the weekends, offering additional respite for carers and an opportunity for clients to be involved in interactive workshops such as music or drama.

Gill told us “I hope by fostering a skilled and enthusiastic employee team, in partnership with health professionals, volunteers and students, we will continue to provide a much needed service that enables clients and their carers to improve and maintain their well-being.  Providing individualised services to each person, ensures their dignity, choice, respect and independence are maintained in a fun, multi-cultural, social and interactive environment, The Parker Day Care Centre is an integral part of Age UK Enfield, and remains innovative by continuously looking at ways to improve services, as we understand that no two people are the same.”
