I was thinking of organising an information session/discussion about the proposed government changes to the NHS (GPs controlling budgets rather than Primary Care Trusts for example) and what they might mean for our area, inviting some speakers etc. Although my own feeling is that the 'reforms' will be detrimental, I'm more concerned at this point to stimulate some local discussion. Does anyone else think it's a good idea?

Hi Thanks for this Sue - I think it would be a really good thing to have a discussion locally about the proposed changes.

I have to say the news this morning, that a number of health charities have grave concerns about these reforms, confirms my own expectations - so I think it would be really helpful to get some speakers with local specialist knowledge to start an informed discussion.

Thanks Richard. I'm looking for a venue at the moment and thinking about speakers. There's a campaign called Keep the NHS Public which might know some local speakers.

I'll keep everyone updated!

Just found out there is a meeting on Thursday 17th Feb in Muswell Hill - the details are in the event I have added to the Events page. I may still organise something more locally but thought I would let people know about this meeting anyway

Sue

You probably already know - but there is a follow-up meeting about the governments NHS proposals organised for Thursday March 17th in Wood Green.

I have included the details on the Events Page

Thanks

Richard

Thanks Richard. I should have done that!
