Colney Hatch crash: North Circular three-car accident leaves 'at least two people injured'

At least two people have been injured in a three-car crash on the North Circular, police say.

Emergency services were called out to the road after an accident near the Colney Hatch Lane interchange at Friern Barnet.

Motorists tweeted photos of London’s Air Ambulance landing on a stretch of the highway,

and a police tent nearby. Police have blocked off the eastbound side of the road.

Colney Hatch crash: Man dies in North Circular accident involving broken down car

A man in his 70s was killed after a car collided with another vehicle that had broken down on the North Circular, police say.

Emergency services were called out to the road after an accident near the Colney Hatch Lane interchange in Friern Barnet at around 10.40am this morning.

A spokesman for the Met Police said: “At this early stage is believe a car broke down on the road and was then assisted by a motorist in another car.

“A third car was then in collision with the two stationary vehicles.”

One man, aged in his 70s, died at the scene while a woman was taken to a north London hospital.

Motorists tweeted photos of London’s Air Ambulance landing on a stretch of the highway and a police tent nearby.

The London Fire Brigade were also sent down to cut someone free from one of the cars.

Tony Berkman, whose home overlooks the road, said: “It looked dreadful.

“There were lots of ambulances sitting about, fire engines and police. It looked like people were trapped in crashed vehicles.

“A blue sheet was covering most of site where I presume the fire brigade were working with cutting machinery.”

Police said there had been no arrests and inquiries continue
