IMPORTANT MESSAGE:

Following the excessive June rain the grounds of Broomfield Park are so saturated  that Enfield Council staff have recommended Postponing the Palmers Green Festival until 2nd September.

This comes two weeks after the cancellation of the Bank Holiday fun fair in Broomfield Park for similar reasonss.

Organisers of the event have issued the following statement:

Due to the recent record breaking wet weather and more heavy rain forecast over the coming days the Grade 2 listed grounds of Broomfield Park are incapable of supporting the Palmers Green Community Festival on Sunday 24th June without risking significant damage.

With over 60 stalls requiring vehicular movements, a fun fair, several large vehicles including a double decker youth club, mobile DJ Van and library, as well as over 20 bands with their musical instruments, the grounds of the waterlogged park simply wouldn’t cope.

Several visits and discussions with major stall holders and Parks staff have very reluctantly led the Committee to defer the Festival to the proposed new date of Sunday 2nd September.

The safety of these visitors and the condition of the park were deemed sufficiently at risk to require this action which follows a similar decision by the visiting fun fare last week.

The huge voluntary effort and goodwill of the local community will not have been wasted if we can successfully re-schedule. The Festival Committee has now started the task of contacting all stallholders, bands, potential visitors, other stakeholders and partners.

This is disappointing news for everyone and coming so late after so much effort. If you were planning to come along, or had notified others of the date, could we ask that you do all you can to notify them of the necessary change in circumstances.

Volunteers, to assist with the revised planning and fulfillment of the Festival on 2nd September will be very extremely welcome.

Further details will be available on www.palmersgreencommunity.org.uk

Or contact: info@palmersgreenunited.co.uk .

Due to legal conditions the raffle draw will take place as advertised in the week commencing 25th June.
