Planters on Myddleton Road

I've been looking after the planters on Myddleton Road this summer and wanted to know if anyone has any views on having the wooden trims on the planters painted with the fencing paint to preserve them. I was thinking about maybe something like the 'Alan Titchmarsh' blue, sage green and a turquoise colour. Any views - yes or not to this idea?
