Proposed Demolotion of Victorian Double Fronted House: Planning Application

Site member Theresea Beattie has sent in details about the proposed demolition of a beautiful double-fronted Victorian house at 129 Palmerston Road to build a three storey block of flats. She says:

We have just a few days in which to submit objections to the Planning Inspectorate - in the hope of persuading them to reject the appeal of the developer. After a long delay, the plans are now on the Enfield Council website - if you go to their planning page and enter 129 Palmerston Road - it's the latest application.

It hasn't changed much from the one submitted and rejected last year - it still requires demolition of the lovely old Victorian detached house and paving over the garden at the back to construct a 3 story block of flats. So it's not really worth looking at the Planning application details.

Go to the Planning Inspectorate appeals page. If you enter 129 Palmerston Road the case comes up. Scroll down to "Comment on this Case" and you can then enter comments as an Interested Party/Person.

Colin Potter has produced a template letter which people can cut and paste from: this is attached below and could be copied and pasted into the form.

Also attached is a letter from Caroline Simpson of the BCPA regarding the previous application.

It would be a dreadful pity if the developer gets his way and bulldozes this lovely house.

Many thanks
Theresa Beattie
