The proposed strike by RMT members currently affects only RMT members operating for Network Rail.
Network Rail operates only the 18 biggest and busiest stations (10 in London; 8 others in the UK, CLICK HERE). All other stations are operated by the Train Operating Companies (TOCs)
‘That noting the failure of Network Rail to offer any further negotiations and the overwhelming support of our members for industrial action in support of our campaign for job security and improved pay, the General Secretary is to instruct our members to take the following action in what is the start of a rolling campaign of industrial action ;
* To take action short of strike by not working any overtime or additional hours or any extended shifts and by not undertaking any call-outs for 48 hours between 0001 hours on 25/05/2015 and 2359 hours on 26/05/2015
* To take 24 hours of strike action by not booking on for duty on any shift from 1700 hours on 25/05/2015 until 1659 hours on 26/05/2015"

There will be no Virgin Trains services running on the West Coast Mainline on either Monday 25 or Tuesday 26 May. This is the result of a strike called by members of the RMT & TSSA unions that work for track and infrastructure operator Network Rail on these dates.
Customers planning to travel on the affected dates will need to make alternative arrangements. If you are planning to travel on Sunday 24 or Wednesday 27 we recommend that you check before you travel for more information on how your journey may be affected.
We appreciate that many customers will have their travel plans disrupted by the planned industrial action, so train companies have agreed to put in place special arrangements to make it easier for you to complete your journey.
If you already have a valid Anytime, Off-Peak or Super Off-Peak ticket valid for travel on either the Monday 25 or Tuesday 26 May you will be able to use your ticket for travel on Sunday 24 May or Wednesday 27 May, subject to any travel restrictions that would normally apply to your ticket on those days.
If you have an Advance ticket for travel on the 25 or 26 May, you will also be able to travel on either the 24 May or 27 May, using the same train service that you originally booked on or the services immediately before or after this service.
If you already have a ticket valid for travel on any of the days affected by the planned industrial action and no longer wish to travel, the retailer that sold you your ticket will provide you with a full refund without needing to pay the normal administration fee. Alternatively you can exchange it for another ticket (once you’ve paid any difference in price), again without payment of the normal administration fee. If you want to obtain a refund or exchange your ticket please ask the retailer from whom you purchased your ticket.
To arrange a refund for tickets purchased through www.virgintrains.co.uk, please contact our after sales team on 03445565650.
Affected routes include London - Birmingham - Wolverhampton - Shrewsbury, London & West Midlands - Chester & North Wales, London - Liverpool & Manchester, London & West Midlands - North West & Scotland
Members of the RMT trade union employed by Network Rail have announced industrial action taking place on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 May 2015.
We have been informed by Network Rail, which maintains the UK rail network, that Virgin Trains East Coast will only be able to run a very limited service on these dates.
Due to this action, we recommend customers, whose travel plans are flexible, travel on Sunday 24 May or later in the week when existing tickets will be valid.
On Monday 25 May VirginEastCoast Trains services will operate as normal until the early afternoon, with the exception of services in Scotland beyond Edinburgh:
There will be no Virgin Trains East Coast services to and from Aberdeen, Glasgow and Inverness due to the network being unavailable on those routes.
On Tuesday 26 May a limited number of trains are likely to run on our London – Leeds and London - York – Newcastle routes only, from late morning to early afternoon.
If you’ve got tickets for travel with Virgin Trains East Coast on the 25 and 26 May you can instead choose to use these tickets on our services on Sunday 24 May or on Wednesday 27, Thursday 28 and Friday 29 May 2015. If you hold an Advance ticket, please use the same train service as originally booked or the services immediately before or after.
As the situation is still subject to change, further details of the timetable and routes we’ll operate on these dates will be published as soon as they become available.
All ticket restrictions will be lifted on Monday 25 May and Tuesday 26 May 2015.
Existing seat reservations will only be in place on services where the original booked train is also running in the amended timetable.
We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused and if you’d prefer to claim a refund or rebook your travel arrangements for beyond this period, contact the Virgin Trains East Coast Customer Relations team on 03457 225 333 or the retailer where the tickets were originally purchased. Refunds can be claimed from Wednesday 27 May 2015.

More information on the timetables that will operate on the 25 and 26 May will be available on the National Rail Enquiries website from the afternoon of Thursday 21 May onwards. Please note, that as the planned industrial action will affect routes differently (because of differing rail signalling systems, for instance), it is likely that more information will be available on some routes than others. Full timetables for the 25 and 26 May are currently expected to be available at NationalRail Enquiries web site at www.nationalrail.co.uk from Saturday 23 May onwards
