Hi

I'd like to have my loft converted to include two bedrooms and a shower room.  I've had a couple of quotes from loft conversion companies but would like to consider going down the architect and builder route.  

Has anyone had this kind of work done recently and would they recommend the company?  Also, would you recommend using specialist building control or going for local authority? 

Any help would be much appreciated.
