Last year the local community successfully campaigned to stop the ground floor of 101 Myddleton Road – formerly ’The Step’ – from being turned into tiny flats.

The owner of 101 has now put the ground floor up for sale. However, following an application from We Love Myddleton Road, Haringey Council has declared the property an ‘Asset of Community Value’. This stops any imminent private sale and means that the community has the chance to put together a bid to purchase the unit.

Following an Expression of Interest, we have also now been invited to apply for a grant from the government’s Community Ownership Fund to regenerate community assets. This is a fantastic opportunity which would match local fundraising up to £250,000 and we will need to raise at least £200,000.

This new campaign has made great strides in the past two weeks, with over 150 people filling in the Community Survey and lots of offers of help and investment pledges.  You can find out more on the website and fill in the survey there too.

Update: Over 400 people have now filled in the Community Survey, with pledges of around £140,000.

Further pledges by 15 August will be able to be added to the total included in the bid to the government's Community Ownership Fund.
