Selby Trust Campaign: Pledge Support to make refugees welcome in Haringey

The Selby Trust manages community facilities such as the Selby Centre which brings together a rich mix of individuals and organisations, primarily from BME, refugee and other historically excluded communities in Tottenham, Haringey, North London and beyond. This week thy have invited people to pledge support to their campaign to make refugees welcome in Haringey borough. They say:

Haringey has been home to Refugees for Centuries, from the Huguenots Refugees who settled in Tottenham and the Refugees from the American War of Independence in the 16th Century, the Greek refugees and the political refugees from Poland in the 1800s to the Eastern European Jews in the 1900s and the many refugees from Somalia, Congo, Albania to name a few that we see today.

People from each one of those communities have contributed to make Haringey, London and our country a better place to live.

As a borough our motto [found on our crest] is ‘Progress with Humanity’ – we want to help those that are in need and we welcome them to Haringey.

If you are a resident, business or organisation in Haringey and you welcome refugees to our borough please sign the pledge and join our campaign.

You can also download the pledge card, take a selfie and email it to info@selbytrust.co.uk or tweet us at @SelbyTrust

They will update their page with the number of pledges and the organisations who have supported this campaign.
