About a year ago we carried a story about the proposals for Albert Road Recreation Ground to receive Queen Elizabeth II status ensuring it would be protected from any future development.

Thanks to the hard work of FARRG (Friends of Albert Road Recreation Ground & Play Area) the bid was successful, with the park securing the second highest number of votes in the country, and Albert Road Rec was awarded it's new status as a "Field in Trust" in time for the Queen’s 2012 Golden Jubilee year.

Now in a second stage all the QEII fields across the country are in competition to see which is the most loved. The winner will be announced at the inaugural Fields In Trust Awards in November ... so go on get voting and show our local field a little love...  click on the button, it just might win!
