Message from Haringey Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Matt Cox:

In recent weeks there has been an increase in mobile phones being stolen by means of suspects on scooters riding up behind victims and snatching them from their hands.

This has been occurring across Haringey, and most significantly around the West of the Borough.

In order to reduce the chances of this happening to you, please could I ask you to read the attached leaflet, which provides good, clear, crime prevention advice on this subject. I would be most grateful if you could pass this information on to your members.

Haringey police are working hard to reduce the number of incidents, but the best way of reducing crime is through simple preventative measures.

  • In an emergency dial 999. For all other enquiries call our non-emergency number 101, or visit the website www.met.police.uk
  • If you have any information on any crime, and you would prefer not to speak to police you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, or visit: www.crimestoppers-uk.org Crimestoppers is an independent charity.
