A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
Please support this site with an online donation
The Bowes and Bounds website began a while ago as a bit of an experiment to see whether we could harness the enormous community energy in our neighbourhood to build an online forum and noticeboard.
We are very grateful to the people and organisations who support this site and have helped build it up to where we are now.
The results of our recent online survey have shown us that people do value the site and the idea of a local online forum the project has grown to a point where we feel we need to make it a more structured set-up. Several suggestions from survey participants have identified ways we could grow the site and develop events and activities to connect people within our local communities.
We operate as an entirely volunteer-run community project. Whilst it's cheap to run the site - it's not free, so to make the changes and develop the site we are asking for a little support.
The more numbers we get on board as members the more we can attract local advertisers, do you know any of your neighbours or local friends who might want to join? A flyer is available to download please pass on to people who might be interested.
You can also directly invite people by e-mail. Just click on the "Invite" link above and fill in an e-mail address.
There are other ways to support the site - this can be by getting involved with contributing content, researching local information for our resources section, recruiting others to sign up, or by making a small donation to our costs. Please get in touch if you are interested in finding out more.
If you can help, please consider making an online donation via Paypal.
Thank You.
If you have any ideas suggestions -please leave a comment below, or send us an e-mail

Hi Richard,
We're raising our next £50 book swap money for Bowes & Bounds at The Step... we've already raised £15 so shouldn't be long now!
For those who don't know this is how it works...
There’s some cracking titles up for grabs and the rules are simple:-
1. If you swap a book we ask you to contribute £1
2. If you just want to buy a book they cost £2 or £3 (depending on how great or new we think the title is)
All we ask is that if you swap a book you bring a decent quality title in return... otherwise our own personal book collection is going to dwindle even further!
Hope that helps a bit.
Nell.
That's fantastic, Nell, thanks! I've got a wee pile I could bring down for the swap if you've got room?
Yes please - that would be super! Thanks loads.
Hi Nell, would you like some books without a swap? I don't have room for all my books and now have moved to the dark side of kindle reading. Let me know, thanks, Mary
Hi Mary
Yes please - that would be brilliant. The Book Swap is getting a life of it's own now, so it's great to keep adding new titles. We'd be happy to help you free up some space!
Thanks muchly
Nell
That's great Nell, thanks. I'll pop them round some night this week. BW Mary
That's very generous Nell - many thanks for your support.
Richard
Hi Richard and Lindsey,
Just to let you know that it's official... we've now raised £50 through The Step's Book Swap for the Bowes & Bounds community website. Thanks to everyone for bringing in such great books and for buying or swapping them too. Woo hoo!
Cheers
Nell
Many Thanks Nell
That's very generous and helps to keep the site ticking over - Thanks especially to all the customers of The Step, who donated, swapped and bought books, not only are you now smarter more well-informed people... but you have also helped out a volunteer run community project!
... good news all round!
Thank You!
Great news, thank you!
Many Thanks to The Step for their generous donation - and thanks especially to Mat for interrupting the quiz night last Wednesday to make an unexpected public presentation - including some very warm words about the Bowes and Bounds Forum.
The money will help cover our costs and assist in developing some new plans we have in preparation.
Thanks also to the customers of The Step who have contributed to the Bookswap funds.
No problems Richard, it's our pleasure to be able to help and great the book swap is working.
Of course, this means we have a vacancy for a new local or semi local cause or charity. Suggestions most welcome!
