Take care when crossing Brownlow road! ( Junction of Brownlow Rd/ Bounds Green Rd)

Dear pedestrians,

Please take extra care crossing Brownlow Rd at the lights when the green man shows because many cars cannot see the 'no left turn' sign and turn into the road when pedestrians feel it is safe to cross!

I've spoken to many motorists who say they simply cannot see the signage in time. I've written to the council to say better signage is needed and would ask you to do the same as the crossing is very near a local school.

In the meantime, a request to pedestrians; please don't threaten and abuse motorists who make this mistake - I've seen first hand it is very easily done. If you are concerned about road safety, they are more likely to make another mistake when faced with an angry mob!  The crossing is frequently used by children and it is also really scary for them to have angry adults being abusive towards each other.

Instead, please write to the council and let your concerns be known.

Many thanks and have a lovely and safe Christmas,

Sureka x

I have to disagree with you that it is not clearly signposted, there is a large sign opposite the junction with Blake Road, just after the marked zone for the speed camera, there is another large sign opposite the junction with Gordon Road and as you approach the lights the road markings on the inside lane, the large sign outside Firat supermarket, and the no left turn sign actually on the traffic lights. If a driver hasn't seen any of these they deserve all the points and fines they get.

Barry, with respect my post was aimed at pedestrians to a) please take care when crossing and b) please refrain from having massive rows in the street as the crossing is very close to a primary school and a nursery. I am not a driver, just a mum, so I accept the signage is obvious to you. But I also know several drivers who have made this mistake and I also live very close to this junction so I see the bewildered look on motorists' faces when they get pulled up by other drivers or pedestrians literally every day...so something is obviously not as clear as you'd think or you are a better driver than most. Either way, I'm sure we can agree neither of us want injured pedestrians or distressed children.
