Locally we have a few bits of land lovingly tended by volunteers - The Community Garden in Myddleton Road, Finsbury Gardens, and just last week a new playground and park in Bounds Green was opened by Lynne Featherstone MP.

Now a new campaign with the support of Groundwork, the UK's leading environmental regeneration charity, is transforming outdoor spaces across the country with money raised from the sale of soft drinks. Each time you purchase one of the brands of soft drink included in the scheme funding for a 1cm2 patch of real land that needs regenerating is raised.

Parks playgrounds and sports pitches will all be given a lift through the Transform Your Patch programme.

The website lists potential projects across the UK – our nearest site is the Stanley Road Pocket Parkin Haringey where funding will be used for the creation of a mini orchard and seating However if this project wins a public vote, additional funding would be spent on further enhancements such as resurfacing, furniture features and additional planting areas.
