More than 200 homes were affected after the underground pipe in Enfield Road, burst flooding a large section of Enfield Road between Slades Hill and Bramley Road

Engineers and Contrators from Thameswater have been working around the clock to repair the 16 inch pipe, but have been faced with a number of complications.

Thecomplication include significant damage to the pipe which is four metres below the surface and six metres of which requires replacing.

The discovery of high voltage cables in the vicinity has also slowed work on the repairs.

Chris Featherstone, head of control at Thames Water, said: “We’re very sorry to customers still without water, we know this is frustrating and unacceptable. We have our best teams working to sort this out and until it is, we’ll carry on supplying bottled water.

Single lane traffic working is in force adjoining the site of the burst water main causing delays to buses and other traffic during peak periods, Buses on route 121 (Turnpike Lane to Enfield Island Village) and route 307 (Brimsdown to Barnet General Hospital) may need to be curtailed which will cause extended waiting periods
