Urgent Meeting about the future of Broomfield House at Ruth Winston centre 7.30pm Wed 9th Nov

Message forwarded from Palmers Green based community Group Improving our Place

You may have heard that Boris Johnson has finally confirmed to Enfield Council that the GLA cannot provide the remainder of the £5.9M promised for Broomfield House.

Enfield Council are now proposing to apply for a grant to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) with the initial meeting taking place in mid November.

We can possibly assume that the Council will want to make little change to their proposed project. However, HLF will probably insist on making it more community friendly, an opinion shared by quite a lot of “Palmers Green People”.

This is a perfect time for “Palmers Green People” to have their say in the future of the House in the Park.

It seems to be the general opinion that the best way forward would be for us, the community to unite, and take this project over and to establish a community centric group, possibly a Community Trust or a similar organisation to democratically decide the future of the House and its use.

We are inviting you to come to a meeting of interested parties to discuss this matter. Our aim is to establish a steering group, then to organise an open meeting and then to select a fully representative committee.

In view of the short time frame it is imperative that we meet as soon as possible.

We have suggested the meeting be at Ruth Winston House at 7.30 on Wednesday 9th November

Clearly, this address list is limited. Please forward to anyone you know who is interested in the issue of Broomfield House.

Regards,

Bill Yates Chair IOP
