Hi,

As posted previously, a group of local residents have come together, with funding from the North London Waste Authority, to create a new local initiative in Bowes and Bounds to encourage everyone to waste a little less and to Revamp, Repair and Reuse instead.

Take a look at our website: wastenot.info

We had our first event at the October Myddleton Road market, and we have 5 more planned. This is where we need your help to spread the word and encourage people to make a difference!

We have printed some lovely flyers:

Now we are looking for more local people to help deliver them. The flyers are available from Leafy Bean at Bowes Park station. Just pop down, choose the street you want to deliver to, collect the flyers and then choose a nice day to pop them through letterboxes.

Thanks!

Daniel

Is not the issue that Energy and wage cost make recycling not as viable as using fresh materials . Also with Supermarkets recycling they are main source of recycling projects. Plus its safer to burn waste and get the Energy from burning. Aware there issues about Burning waste. But more danger from the heavy traffic that passes Edmonton Incinerator daily

Hi Robert,

Interesting thoughts!

The focus of the Waste Not initiative is on reusing, revamping and repairing items rather than recycling or even throwing them away. This means that you avoid any waste and also the environmental costs of producing new/replacement items as well.

If you have any other thoughts on this do get in touch.

Daniel

Daniel,

Apologies. Totally agree with recycling goods. Used to be a place at Western Road Depot for such items . Also a Council supported scheme in Tottenham. Which I understand was lost under redevelopment . Aware Eco Robert used to recycle items out of Chesnut Park but not herd from him in many months

Believe issue is having a place where people can drop off items, or arrange collection

All the best in your Efforts
