Does this club still exist? Is there any Jazz being played in the area?

Hi Alistair,

The Wood Green Jazz Club had a long history (which we looked at in this blog post)  but the Bourne Hall was knocked down for housing several years ago ... and the former pub is now a Police station!

The best place for live Jazz locally is the Karamel Club, Coburg Road Wood Green where they have weekly sessions of excellent British and touring international jazz musicians. The "Great Wee Band" for example are playing live next week.

And even closer to home there is occasional jazz in Myddleton Road, Bowes Park - The Step often has gigs of a broadly Jazzy nature (Next up Ruta di Trio Apr 16th) and look out for their regular Sunday afternoon Jazz sessions. (Nice!)

Mums Bistro, also on Myddleton Road  has live music of different genres - (it's home to the Bowes Park Folk Club) They had a "Blue Note style" Jazz gig in there last week with local band "Love for Sale" - who are definitely worth seeking out, next time they play.

Have a look at our event listings - (especially those tagged "Jazz")  ... we try and keep up with local live music - but if you hear of anything not listed, you can add your own events.

Cheers

Richard

I was surprised to find http://www.thevintage.org.uk/st-harmonicas-blues-club.html as being one of the top 5 Jazz places in London.

Not been there myself though they played at Broomfield Park outdoors last summer
