Is there a more ignored Zebra Crossing in North London than the one on Bounds Green Road opposite Whittington Road and just down from the petrol station? A small and trivial matter perhaps, but it is almost laughable how few cars actually stop for pedestrians there. Drunks staggering home from the Springfield are surely in peril?!

And while I've got this bee in my bonnet about traffic violations, I clocked another near miss this morning with an illegal left turner on to Brownlow Road outside Bounds Green tube forcing a pedestrian to take evasive action.

Ahh, don't get me started on the illegal left turns down Brownlow Road. I used to collect the kids from nursery and cross that junction with them every day. I'd say it felt like 1 in 10 times we crossed we would have to dive for cover as someone made an illegal turn. Normally resulting in me getting advising driver loudly of their error. The No left turn signs are fairly poorly displayed so to be honest it is no wonder this does happen.

I complained to council / councillors for area. Two councillors kindly took an interest (Joanna Christophides & Ali Demirci).  I believe my concerns were raised at a safer neighbourhoods meeting, and I was also advised thate the signage for the no left turn was being corrected as it had been incorrectly placed by the contractor.

Not sure the council was going to do much though as I was (accidently ?) copied in on an email from the highways department advising that the camera on that junction which is setup to record such transgressions had issued 2,138 penalty charge notices in 3 months alone, and I suspect the income would be missed by a cash strapped Haringey council.
